Cupcake Wars is now complete!! All teams worked very hard baking and decorating their cupcakes!! The decorations and flavors they came up with were very creative. Although there can only be one winner they are all winners in my book! Great job and congratulations to the winning team, the E-lemon-ators, Hannah, Alexis, Abigail, and Jadyn!!! :)

Students got into teams to bake their cupcakes and make their frosting. The theme is Summer Break and the secret ingredient they have to use somewhere in the cupcake/frosting is any kind of candy. Decorating and judging will take place tomorrow in class. Who's going to bring home the title of cupcake wars champion??? Yesterday, 7th graders prepared breakfast sandwiches for teacher/faculty appreciation week here at MMS! They made nearly 70 sandwiches!! Teachers and faculty put in their orders last week for what type of sandwich they wanted (egg and cheese, sausage, ham, and bacon to choose from). 8th graders made the paper plate boxes to put the sandwiches in. All three grades wrote handwritten thank you notes to go with each sandwich. They worked so hard and had a blast doing it! Thanks and I'm so proud of you all!!

All 3 classes have been hard at work working on their cupcake pin cushions! The classroom looks like a bakery! 7th Grade and 6th grade are mostly finished working on theirs. They will be starting the food and nutrition unit soon. On Friday they both have a sewing quiz and their folders are due. They get to use their folders to take their quiz. 8th grade has been working on their pin cushions as well. They will begin sewing machine safety and practice on Friday. They also need to bring in an old pillow case to construct their pillow case aprons. The pillow cases need to be in school by next Tuesday. If they are unable to bring a pillow case, please let me know so I can get one for you. I found the one I used to make mine at the Goodwill for only $0.50! Their folders are also due Friday. The new date for our field trip will be April 21st. Same time of departure and return to school, leave at 9:30 (chaperones be at school at 9:10) and return to school in time for lab (2:20ish).
Chaperones, if this new date does not work for you I need to know ASAP in order to let my alternates know. Thanks and happy Tuesday! =) |
